I am Amanda. I grew up in a small town……then grew up some more in a big city…..and then went back to a small town for college. (What the heck is wrong with me?)

I am a Spanish major. Yes, I can tell more than just what the third-person imperfect is for the verb hacer. A Spanish major encompasses literature, culture, and history, thank you very much. And I am a Latin American Studies minor, which compliments perfectly with the Spanish major. I’m also a political science minor, even though I constantly find myself insecure with that because it’s all too complicated for my tiny brain. I would also love a theology minor, but heck, since I’m graduating in December 2006, that’s pretty much impossible. I am Catholic, and I don’t apologize for it. I love my Catholicism. I’ve gotten more religious over the years, but I will never be one of those people beating over your head with a Bible condemning you to hell if you don’t convert. No, I’ll never be like that.

I am opinionated, and I don’t tolerate opposition very well. I will always try and be civil, but truly it does tear me up inside when someone disagrees with an issue I feel strongly about. (I’m also very passive-aggressive so beware) Because frankly, I’m stubborn and think I’m right. It’s hard to change my mind, though it does happen…..only once in a blue moon though.

I tend to be unconfident and beat myself up over some little thing and sometimes I feel as if I’m not worth anything. I try not to be emo though, I promise. I also get very concerned about what other people think of me, another reason for my insecurity.

I’m not an intellectual…..I guess that makes me artistic? I get pretty good grades in school but I know that there is no way I identify myself with being intellectual – it’s just not my thing. For the most part, unless the information means a lot to me, I just regurgitate information for professors on tests.

I am indecisive. I really am. I could say one thing one day and another thing the next. I am queen of contradicting myself.

I detest conflict. I find myself angered over either personal conflicts or political conflicts and maybe a few more in between. I’m known to get very passionate about many issues – poverty and human rights foremost. But more than anything, I wish people would just “play nice”. I have a mental awareness of people – I can usually tell of their feelings before I’ve even spent five minutes with them.

And that's me in a nutshell.....actually more than like me in seven small paragraphs.
